A high-level meeting on establishment of Gemstone Center was chaired by Prime Minister’s Advisor on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan!
Islamabad, October 01, 2026: Adviser to Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan chaired a high-level meeting on establishment of Gemstone Center. Prime Minister’s Coordinator Rana Ehsan Afzal, Additional Secretary Humaira Zia Mufti and Joint Secretary Freedon Akram Sheikh also participated in the meeting. Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan said that the Gemstone Sector has the potential to generate billions of dollars in economic growth and increase exports and a world-class modern center for gemstones will be established as per the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz. To prevent the wastage of precious stones and develop the sector, a gemstones policy has been formulated and its implementation has begun. Using the latest technology, it is possible to increase the value of precious stones and prevent potential losses of billions of dollars, Haroon Akhtar Khan said. Haroon Akhtar Khan further said that the government will provide necessary facilities to the precious stones sector and develop it on modern lines. Local processing of precious stones will increase their value, improve exports and strengthen the country's economy.
