Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy deep-rooted ties and around 2.5 million Pakistani expats live and work in the Kingdom, making it the single largest source of foreign remittances to the South Asian nation. Pakistani top officials have recently led marathon visits to the Kingdom to enhance trade and business ties and create more job opportunities for expats.

Both sides agreed to further develop Pak-Saudi business-to-business relation. Saudi Industrialists can benefit from investment opportunities in steel and petrochemical industry in Pakistan. Pakistan is taking steps to increase cooperation in the IT sector between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Last year a delegation of 15 top Pakistani IT companies led by IT Minister Dr. Umar Saif visited Saudi Arabia and signed deals to accelerate digital transformation, foster innovation and advance digital infrastructure. The agreements will also boost the ecosystems for small and medium-sized enterprises and startups and encourage transfer of businesses and exchange of information on accelerators and incubators.

Both countries have also decided to establish a special task force to promote Saudi-Pakistan digital cooperation.

Dr. Gohar Ejaz also briefed the Saudi Ambassador about the beauty of Pakistan’s mountainous northern regions and called on the Kingdom to develop luxury resorts in these areas.
