Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain Chairs Fertilizer Review Committee Meeting.

Islamabad: A meeting of the Fertilizer Review Committee, chaired by Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, was held to review the demand and supply of urea fertilizer for the Rabi season 2024-25. According to the meeting’s statement, the demand for urea during the current season is expected to increase by 16.4%. The minister directed immediate measures to ensure the provision of fertilizers to farmers at the officially set prices.

Rana Tanveer Hussain highlighted the significant role played by the Punjab Government’s Kisan Card Package in increasing urea demand. He instructed relevant authorities to operate fertilizer production units at full capacity to maintain a balance between demand and supply. Various options regarding the import of fertilizers were also discussed to ensure timely availability for farmers.

The Minister emphasized that strict action would be taken against hoarding and profiteering of fertilizers. He made it clear that no one would be allowed to compromise farmers’ interests. The meeting was attended by senior officials of the ministry and representatives of relevant organizations.
