President Zardari said that appropriate measures are needed to protect the interests of farmers. Adequate price of wheat, timely measures and smooth procurement process are necessary. Easy loans should be provided to the private sector for the construction of modern wheat storage facilities.

President further said that the availability of reliable data is required for timely policy initiatives, accurate forecasting of future needs. A proposal to deregulate the agricultural sector was also presented by the President in the meeting.
