INTRODUCTION:
"The National Productivity Organization (NPO) is a public sector company (a company set up under section 42 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984, now Companies Act 2017) under the umbrella of Ministry of Industries and Production (MoIP) and a Liaison Office of Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Tokyo, Japan established in 1961 and now having 21 member countries with recent accession of Turkey, with the mandate to promote productivity and quality consciousness among all economic sectors of Pakistan. The National Productivity Organization (NPO) is working on enhancing Productivity and Quality to develop a Knowledge Based Economy, and promotion of green practices to use the resources efficiently."

NPO's EVOLUTION:

Asian Productivity Organization (APO) was established in 1961 under a Convention, with an objective to increase productivity & Quality in the countries of Asia and Pacific region through mutual cooperation.

Pakistan was one of the eight founding members of APO.

Separate NPO-Pakistan office was established at Islamabad in June 2001

NPO has been incorporated as non profit company in 2006
